Aww if is NBS I bet it blooms for you in spring! I’m not sure why mine are blooming this fall; 2 of my 3 are doing that but the third isn’t. They usually bloom in spring for me…but not always and sometimes twice a year, depending on where the repot and winter/spring temps fall. I’m in a new apartment so this is a first bloom season.
Hope so! What is the minimum LS of a BS plant? Mine is QF breed and I would like to have another one from a different breeder(OI or PP...) next spring.

do their blooms have a scent?
No, unscented among all those I have sniffed. I used to have 10 clones from different lines. I divested of all when I moved to NYC but have gotten back 3 of my old ones by division since moving back to Chicago. I have sniffed a lot of these and think they're unscented... but I bet they look amazing to a bee.

I have had spikes on leaves that were 4 to 5 inches long and maximum leaf size is probably about 7 inches. Awhile back someone on Facebook posted a bunch of what he said/looked like P. purpuratum in spike inside a crowded flask; those plants were no more than 3 inches across, max.

The original Hong Kong plants seemed to me to have "curlier" leaves. They'd be kind of swirly in the clumps. I am not sure how to describe it. I have one of these old ones, still. Overall, the leaves of the original plants from the Hong Kong seem smaller than the newer, redisocvered populations from mainland China and Vietnam and I think some were found in Laos? I've never seen them in situ, of course, this is just an impression I have from looking at lots of plants and lots of photos; someone who knows better can tell me I'm full of crap but I have spent a lot of years chasing and loving this species through the marketplace and history.

Just measured my plant, LS is just short of 6" and an individual leaf is about 3.25". It has five leaves...I do not expect it will bloom till its base gets fatter/bigger...but very close.
