Peachy new year's phrags

On new years eve I decided to take a road trip to northern virginia and visit Orchids For You again. GPS said it was only 122 miles, but all on I95 corridor.

I ended up buying a phrag olaf gruss in flower and a phrag geigelstein in bud. Right before going out the door, the bud popped and opened on the way home

Don't you hate it when that happens??!!! It kills me when
I walk into the greenhouse and find a perfectly fresh looking flower on the floor. I have both of these Phrags. and they're easy growers and very nice looking.

This was the last in bud I was told, but may still be more there

The flowers are pretty similar; the geigelstein a little fatter pouch than olaf. Both approach having a nice picotee

I have one but the new growths are not doing well.
Fortunately, we are working on keeping our Phrags wetter and they are really picking up. I have 7 in bud now.

You should also check out Merrifield Garden Center next time you go to OFY. The have some slippers often in addition to Phals. I live 10 minutes from OFY. We should come see my plants.

Didn't know of Merrifield, sounds interesting. Always good to see people's collections! Need to avoid holiday driving, 95 and beltways were hairy, some crazy drivers. I took the bridge to eastern shore and up through delaware, much more peaceful
