Labeled as sanderianum 'Jacob's Ladder' x 'Deep Pockets'. I'm not educated enough to hazard a guess....is it Prince Edward of York? The flower is not fully mature yet. I expect the dorsal to come forward a bit and the petals are 30cm, still growing and starting to twist.

Wow, it does look like Robert's sanderianum. I'll post more photos when the flower is mature. Whatever it is, it isn't the best quality...that probably makes it tougher to ID.

Didn't 'Jacob's Ladder' x 'Deep Pockets' turn out to be just PEOY's or were some of them legitimate?

I'm not prepared to say one way or the other based on the photos. It tends to look more like a sanderianum than a PEOY but then the petals are pretty short. MAybe they are still growing.

David,
The way the story was told to me, was that numerious seed capsules were set of both ways. then at flasking, capsules got misidentifed but there was at least one F2 flask that germinated. Most plants of course where PEOYs. Terry did try to replace PEOYs with F2s where he could.

This is a riot - maybe it's been too long since my MK bloomed :( , but to me it doesn't look like MK at all! :p
...there comes a time when the memory & eyes fail at the same point in time!

In simple terms, let me explain why. Paph sanderianum is very distinctive and usually has a smooth honey color and this color is usually transmutted in some manner to the progeny. Paph rothschildianum has a reddish pouch and a yellow to white background, but the most evident contribution is the "bent knee" staminode which is modified in the progeny but almost always there.
Paph philippinense has a white dorsal with maroon striping, but a yellow pouch and a greenish/yellow staminode shaped much differently than roth.

The petals of philippinense can vary considerably depending on the plant used. Often roebelinii is used and contributes acutely deflected petals that twist and are pretty long (up to 10" or so). Other forms don't twist as much and are much more relaxed, much like sanderianum.

This plant has no evident roth character, from the staminode to the pouch color among other traits. Paph Prince Edward of York should be well colored unless both parents have pretty weak color, and that's unlikely. This hybrid should have a honey to red pouch, a modified bent knee staminode, and a yellow to white dorsal with darker striping.

Interesting - Theresa thanks! I went back & looked at pics of my PEoY and unfortunately the only pic I can access of MK is my screen saver/wallpaper so it's a bit distorted but can see the differences you described and it does look more like MK. This one the dorsal is so tall, on mine the synsepal is larger & balances it out.
Would this make a good topic - comparing the different multis sharing a same parent? SOA article?

I have a Michael Koopowitz in bud and will compare flowers as soon as it opens....within the next couple of days. After comparing the staminode of my mystery plant to the staminode of photos of MK, it looks like that is the best fit.
