anyone have thoughts on the iphone vs a blackberry vs a samsung rugby ("ruggedized")?

Hubby just bought an iphone today. And has spent all day 'playing'. He'd tell you to get the iphone :>

If you have a definite preference between a touchscreen keyboard and a regular keyboard, that makes the first cut easy ;)

i'm not entirely sure. i think the waterproof one is best for me but the iphone seems the most functional. i use my phone as a home computer and a phone...

Not trying to sway you or anything :poke: but I have to say, since I got the iPhone, I've stopped hauling my laptop all over tarnation. There's very few things I can do on the laptop that I cannot do with the iPhone, and a few things I can do better on the phone at this point as my laptop is pretty old. One thing I need to set up is my banking, but at the moment, that's pretty much the only thing, and I have an app for that, just haven't had time to set it up.

Ah well, I tried to make it easy. I can't stand touchscreen so my choice was simple. Or I should say would be simple. Where the heck is the 3g Blackberry?

Isn't another vendor coming out with a knock off iphone?
The issue I have with iphone is the provider won't work thruout my area of service yet. So if the knockoff doesn't have the restrictions the iphone has , and you want an i phone, you may have that option too.
Maybe Apple expanded the contracts, but I thought at first they only worked with one provider.

Yeah, Apple went with AT&T. I've heard rumors that you can use t-Mobile as well (and a lot of people unlock it but Apple is cracking down on that.) Other countries also use other providers but here, it seems At&t is the rule. I will say that for the increased service costs (despite the lower phone cost) I don't have 3G here in Central MA either - (Boston yes - but not out here) so I'm happy I have the first generation. GPS would be nice but it doesn't talk to you, so I'd need to have someone else in the car anyway for safety reasons. I also dislike that they changed from a metal to a plastic back on the new 3G phones.

I like my phone, and Spore is really fun to play! Mmmm, evolution! (thanks for the head's up on that one Bri!)

Oh, a good place to go for info is macrumors.com.

thoughts...i hope to hell i never reach a position in my job, where they require my using one. I despise even becoming dependent upon my plain-jane cell phone (no camera, no internet, no bling).

Resistance is futile.

I think the Rugby would be great for work, but I like your idea of having a separate home phone. Do you even have a land line at this point?

I think you could get away with an iPhone instead of a computer for home use, but that's another option, maybe you just need a Macbook, but I don't think so...
