Not bad! Only one tooth. It could be worse. :)

Nice one, when I first made the cross, I was hoping they would be big, heavy substance and smooth color. Since you are in Canada, this is probably from a re-make. Ann Bosshart was my grandmother, the one who most encouraged me to raise orchids. She lived a full life, passed away at the age of 99 yrs, fun to see this plant. I only have a couple left. Thanks for posting.

My pleasure Leo. I hope to live that long too. I have no memory of my grandmother.

Nice cross, Leo--maybe time for another re-make!

I no longer have both parents, so to make more I will have to sib or self, which is a good idea. Maybe in the selfing might eliminate the tendency to have 'teeth'. I believe most of this cross are either full tetraploids or maybe amphidiploids, or anueploids. All tend to have extra tissue, and or the problem with tearing as the the flower bud expands, creating teeth.

Higher humidity helps to lessen the frequency of the jagged edges, but it is a common problem with polyploid Phrags.

Maybe a 'next step' cross, How about a back cross to a mostly besseae hybrid like Prissy? Or a cross to a kovachii hybrid? Since there is Phrag schlimii in the background of Magdalena Rose, it should make nicely colored flowers with kovachii and kovachii hybrids. Now I just need to bloom one of my kovachii seedlings.
