phrag besseae

Hello,
Thought Id share a bloomer with everyone.This was my very first phrag that I bought one year ago, has since put out new growth and bloomed again... it does not seem to get the dreaded stolon type growths, at least so far. I have other besseae's that want to climb everywhere, Ive been told it may be due to where it came from originally, but there seems to be alot of speculation on the matter, the petals are more rounded than last years bloom so im anxious to see how this comes along with age.

For some reason I can't put my finger on, it doesn't look like a straight besseae.

Maybe it's the horizontal shape of the flower. We're used to see much rounder flowers in besseae. Also, the color would certainly improve if grown cooler.

Dont let the photo fool you, its super brilliant orange, im wondering if it has some D'alessandroi in its background?? The vendor couldnt/or didnt want to tell me the parentage of the plant, regaurdless Ill always hang on to this one because my wife spotted it and that was the perfect oportunity to buy it....and it was my first phrag anyway

I'd hang on to it too. I love besseae and wouldn't part with it if it was mine. One question though: how wide is it?

Total width is about 12", leaves are about 1.5" wide, Grown semi-hydro, I have several other besseae's some with more slender/longer leaves others are wider.

Oh, the flower is about 3" wide and about 2" tall

So far all my besseae's are sequential, except for one that has yet to bloom. I thought it to be normal for a besseae , correct me if Im wrong
