You are correct Terry. Temps were on the low side. 50 degrees was the bare min with the highs barely breaking 70. I did see a big difference in quality of each flower. The original order was received in Aug with all plants (4 D Wimber) in spike from Hawaii. The first flowers were pale, cuppy and small. I sold two the other two came home, this is one. I should also mention the flowers were also short lived. The second plant aborted the spike for growth. This one keeped the spike but also grew. The last two flowers before this one were large and beautifully colored BUT only had a pouch and the dorsal sepal! I suspect the plants will acclimate to this Texas weather and bloom normal during the winter months after this. What was the min/max temperature during this buds developing and opening. That is a pretty dark orange color and I just wondered if things were on the cool side at least for this flower? Have you noticed a difference in this plant's blooms depending on temperature?

Very nice shape on that flower. I have a big one that has good color, but the petals twist out of plane. I grew several flasks of them, but didn't have any that were shaped as nicely as yours. Mike
