My faithful phrag hybrid is flowering again. I don't seem to keep the plant in very good shape, but it still flowers off and on with very nice flowers. I have it now it small diatomite in a large clay pot standing in water (when I remember to check and keep it up) and though somewhat better than how it looked before I think it still needs something better.

I won it in a club raffle a while back, and it has probably flowered over a half-dozen times for me.

Yay bessea hybrids! This is one of the oldest besseae hybrids and not very often seen anymore.

really?! I could try setting a pod if anyone who is a flasker would be willing to try and make seedlings........ I really do like the flower which always looks better than the plant! (my fault)

Maybe get Fren's pollen and make the cross(?) That is a very nice E-B.
My suggestion Charles for improving the culture is to send it SOUTH! I'm sure it could use a vacation:D

so many good ideas! (smart people on this list...then I joined and the collective iq went down) :D

fren, if you would like to try sending me a flower I could try an outcross. there is a second bud opening as we speak and I could also try a selfing

about the vacation, I'm sure staying alive with my slipper culture might be like work...

second bud opens

I don't know the parentage, it wasn't listed on the label though now I'm reminded that it originally came from Bloomfield Orchids (NYEric was prescient... ;) )

it looks like the first flower (on left) must be getting darker as it ages; the second flower is much lighter. I did move the plant away from the light after I saw the first flower open. the second flower to open (right) really does have that sort of bluish sort of tint to it, may darken as it gets older as well

I'll probably try to self the second flower since I think the first has aged and could fall off. looks like there is a third bud forming; is first time it's had two flowers open so both would be a first
