This is besseae X kovachii. This is a first bloom seedling that I bought in Ecuador last year. I have seem some photos of flowers that are more red, but, I'll keep it. The dorsal sepal is better than some other kovackii hybrids I have bloomed. The bloom has been open for three days and is 11 cm across. I suppose it will still increase in size a little but I couldn't wait to get a photo.

This might be heresy to admit, but for the most part I have not been particularly enamoured of kovachii hybrids. To me, a lot of them are a bit Frankenstein-y looking.

This is one cross that I really like. I love the color and I really like how balanced the bloom shape is.
