First flower of a second blooming. A bit of color break this time a round. I'm just happy to be able to rebloom a schimii / besseae based plant! It's the first for me here in TX.

Without the color break, the pouch would be perfect...nice color, great marking.

Very nice one!

So, what does the colour break indicate? I always associated colour breaks with viruses, but if it can go away in another blooming, then I guess not.

Nice one and good colour. The colour break is probably genetic and random in origin but that's only a guess.

Beautiful flower!!!

SlipperKing, you wrote that you are happy to be able to rebloom a schimii / besseae based plant. Are those hybrids usually difficult to grow?

For my area, Houston, TX, fairly hot summers and mostly mild (warm) winters. Nobody can grow, let alone bloom these species and just as tuff for primary hybrids. I'm thinking the S/H culture I'm using maybe the key to suceeding these types of Phrags. S/H is fairly new "thing" to do for orchid culture in this area. I don't know of anyone doing slippers except for myself. It's always been the bark mix here.

Update On Second Flower

No color break in the pouch on the second one, Yay! Although there are some very nice straight lines in the petals strangly enough.
