Hmmmmmm...the blooms are a bit creepy and really pretty at the same
time. It's beautifully grown and photographed. I expected less color as
well.

I've never been a fan of the species, which is usual because I usually like oddballs. I guess it's the fact that the defining feature of slippers is, well, the pouch. And without that, it's just weird. But in general, I'm not a fan of fully peloric orchid flowers.

That being said, I like that the species is compact in size with proportionally large flowers. Hard to beat that combination.

I use pond water, John. It's passed through a couple of filters and warmed with a water heater. Plants seem to like it just fine, but it is high in calcium since it's a spring-fed pond.

Thanks Dot. It's interesting that water with so much calcium is keeping your plants happy. Of course, we all know what beautiful, vigorous plants you have; so, they must be liking your water.
