Ok good to know Michael. I am making some crosses as we speak with promising looking plants.

Indeed Terry, I’ll try and find out which plants are fertile over the next couple of years by making quite a few crosses between anything decent. Selfing the very best is also on the cards when the plants are a year or two older.

Clone 13.


A reasonable clone with a decent flower and extra marks as there are two side branches with buds already on an immature plant.

A better flower than the previous one as well as bigger, this one is 12.5 cm across. Only problem is that it’s a climber. I probably won’t keep either of these.

Learning the range of the cross is making it quicker and easier to decide what to keep. Nice work.

Clone 11 is getting better. Third bloom and still 13cm across and pan flat, plus a branch blooming. This bloom has a better shape without the tall dorsal or stripy petals. It’s a pity that it’s a climber. I may have to try to accommodate this in future.

Indeed guru. Clones 10 and 12 are definitely keepers and this one is coming close to join them.

Thanks guys. They seem to splitting into two groups so far. One set are pinky purple with wavy flowers and others are flatter and more red in colour.

I really like seeing the variation in these! Definitely some that are standing out as the best but all are great in their own way. Nice job growing them. And thanks for posting photos for us to see.

Clone 17. Good size for a first bloom at 12.5cm and nice and flat but the colour lets it down especially in the dorsal. I’m getting very picky with these. Let’s see what the second flower looks like. The little hole on the extreme left hand petal is from a tiny caterpillar that has since departed.
