Hi All,

Here's a first bloom seedling of Phrag. Mem. Dick Clements (besseae fma flavum x sargentianum `Birchwood'). We re-made this primary hybrid with the yellow form of Phrag besseae so we could back-cross to besseae flavum for a yellow Jason Fischer. Don't expect high germination in the back-cross but even a few yellow JF's would be nice. I especially like the color in this one - it reminds me of a red Georgia peach.

Thanks,

Hi Tom,

Is this the first one you've bloomed from this cross? Or have you bloomed others? If you've bloomed others, how do the colours compare?

Hi Lien,

It's the first one to bloom from the group, so no comparison possible. I've got about 25 of them around blooming size, so hopefully will get a better read as they flower.

As far as the color, it is more like ivory than yellow and makes me wonder whether we shouldn't also self a couple of them just to see what color dominance emerges. It would be great to have a ivory or white flower with that pouch color!

Thanks,

I love the color.

I had a Dick Clements that had a yellow dorsal and a reddish pouch. I thought it was quite unusual, but it died. :sob:
