Did this possibly come with besseae flavum breeding in the background?
Cooler temps would almost certainly make it darker, but this flower still looks kind of like an outlier [good!] for Noirmont.

Noirmont does get to be a biggie! And yes, temps will change the color. I've had mine for a number of years and it is a wonderful grower, water hog, and when it is hot out (I summer it outside) the color is very red.

Culture strongly affects flower color in Phrags. Insufficient light, insufficient fertilizer will both cause pale flowers. Try more light and more fert, you might even see a change in the flowers from the buds that are still developing.

For now, it's 6 inches in height and 10 in width. Not a big plant.
