This is a cross of pearcei and sargentianum. This plant was severly damaged in the freeze; but, it came back nicely. All the old, frost-burned foliage is gone now and it's been replaced with 6 new growths, one of them in bloom now. It is in a 4" clay pot. This is the first bloom since the freeze 2 1/2 years ago. My pearcei's (var. ecuadorense), also survived the freeze; but, with little to no damage. I'm guessing that in nature, they experience the occasional very cold night. Perhaps because pearcei is one of the parents of this hybrid, that is the reason why the plant dodged being a total loss.

oh my gosh, I like that a LOT! Great to hear about it's hardiness, also. Congratulations on getting it back to a healthy state

Thanks everybody!

Looks good. How big is the pot? Is it the mini-pearcei type parent?

"It is in a 4" clay pot.":poke:

The mini-pearcei type is called ecuadorense.....and in that case, the hybrid name would be Phrag. La Moye. So, this was made with the larger type of pearcei.

Has it really been 2.5 years? Time just goes way too fast. But in this case, I'll bet you are happy this time has passed and this beautiful plant is blooming.

Thanks again everyone.:)

Yes, Dot. Time really does fly. It was Easter Sunday morning in March 2008 when I opened the greenhouse door to find everything had frozen overnight! I'll never forget that sinking feeling.....and I still feel that way if I look at the photos that I posted. :( I sometimes come across them as I search my computer for other photos and it just takes me right back....horrible! So, has everyone with a greenhouse done their pre-heating season maintenance on their furnaces yet, including a new thermocouple? If only I'd done that in the fall of 2007..... However, it is all in the past now and yes, I am very happy that this one had the strength to recover and do such a good job of it! It's nice to see it looking so good again.

I can only imagine. My heart would have fallen to my toes.
