This is a first bloom seedling that I got from H. P. Norton over a year ago. It is 25% kovachii, 62.5% besseae, and 12.5% schlimii. I like this hybrid's "less is more" approach with the kovachii influence. It has a natural spread of 10.8 cm. It's only a baby but I really like how it turned out and the picture doesn't do it justice. The flower has a nice dark pink color, is very flat and has kept pretty good form over the past few days (unlike some kovachii hybrids that have form that gets bad over time).

That's pretty nice! Awesome to hear it's holding its form. Is the spike branching? 10 cm is pretty decent IMO considering St Ouen is one parent (usually pretty small).

Ernie - Yes it is actually closer to 11-cm and is only a baby so it may get larger on subsequent bloomings. Unfortunately, it isn't branching though. I have had one kovachii hybrid that branched (Haley Decker) but it isn't common from what I have heard.

Unlike some of the kovachii hybrids that have elongated pouch.
This cross seems to have very nice pouch. The flower is quite balance, and the color is nice too.

Yay besseae hybrids! BTW, I over heard the kovachi gang talking about getting revenge for you guys bad-mouthing them! :p

WOW! These kovachiii based hybrids are getting better all the time.

Thanks for sharing.

ONe of the first second generation ovachii hybrids I have seen and really liked. It seems that the further away from kovachii they get, the better they get.
