The toothiness (is that a word?) is a little unfortunate, but the color and overall shape are wonderful. I'm guessing it's a 3N or 4N plant, right?

I certainly wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of that any time soon were it in my collection.

Sure I will keep it. I name it for my aunt Rachel. And yes, it is a 3N.

I will be happy to see a 2 N of that grex but it is the only pic of this cross I've seen. Mabe a 2 N will be less "toothy"?

Great color! Unfortunately, this "toothiness" can be the problem with many polyploid breeding lines. The best you can hope for is that there isn't enough of it to create a problem for judging (if this is important to you). The down-side of 2N breeding at this level of complexity, of course, is that there usually aren't many seedlings produced.

Erythrone, that's actually really neat that you were able to name this cross for your aunt. Especially considering how beautiful it is and how promising the hybrid is. The best I've managed to accomplish is to name an awarded hybrid after my grandmother. One day, I hope to be able to name a hybrid for someone special to me.

Yeah, toothiness seems to be a trait of polyploid besseae hybrids. Maybe I simply haven't noticed it, but it doesn't appear to affect polyploids outside of the besseae group, at least not as much. Anybody else notice that?

That 'toothiness' is a plus to me. Great color and be no means boring, like so many perfect blooms. To much symmetry does no good.

I'm mixed on the "toothiness". I wouldn't say it's a plus but I don't think it's a bad looking bloom because of the "toothiness". I know judges don't like it; However, it is neat to. Thanks for sharing. Have you bloomed this one before? Is it always a little "toothy"? A 2N would be interesting for comparison.

Yes, it is at least its 3rd blooming period and it was always "toothy".
