I think we need a thread for artistic rendition pictures! We get them posted sometimes and they always elicit some negative input when they aren't the sharp, super-informative images people crave here. If we labelled them as such, then the folks who only want sharp, scientifically accurate images could disregard the thread and not hurt the feelings of the artists who want to share their Paph inspired efforts...

I thrive on criticism. I want people to give it to me straight. No witholding of what they think. In fact, I am far more likely to be hurt if they pass over my post without commenting.

Of course, nobody has the time or feel the need to comment on every post, myself included, and I understand that. ;)

The smoke gray background is a siuperior PIC! How did you manage it?

I bought cheap cloth drapes of different colors (not t-shirts:poke:) and hooked them on a horizontal pole so I can change the background color at will. Varying the intensity of the light falling on the drapes does the rest. The lights illuminate mostly the flower, and I digitally adjust the brightness somewhat to bring out the details. I may underexpose or overexpose the picture for the best effect. I keep in mind however that the color of the flower in the picture is as close as possible to the real one,

For the pics, I find them interesting. But I just wonder if they are too big for their resolution.

The resolution is always large, (1920 x 1080). I always have to crop the picture, so that we see mostly the flower and a little bit around it. I also like my photos to be sharp. Being short-sighted myself, higher resolution and sharpness is something I delight in.
