Surprising outcome in this cross. Is the flower larger thant schlimii?

What a cutie! To me it looks very fischeri and would not be surprised if it was Barbara Leann x fischeri.

very cool bloom, but I agree that there is much fischeri/schlimii!!! What size is it? Jean

It's just a little bigger than schlimii.

No -- I got a flask of these, and there is a lot of variation. Here's my thread of another bloom from this group:

...A strange Waunakee Sunset...
Nice surprise!
I would have expected much more besseae influence.
Some do!

Thanks, everyone.

Interesting and nice but? WS should have much more besseae in it (75 bes + 25 fisch) but with genentic games we never know.
But here is an explanation why we can have different seedling a a flask.
Fischerii is well know as an autogamous (self pollinate specie) even if we do take the pollen off as fast as possible autogamous species are often selfpollinated before the flower is fully developed. it always got a possibility than some pollen self the plant before and this even if some besseae pollen was put on after... This could happen and this is the reason why some autogamous plants are not often use as pod parent. If they are we have to see the seedling in flower before to be shure to get the cross we are expected to. We can get 50%/50% W.S and fischerii in a single flask.

OK -- I am eating humble pie today. I just re-checked the tag, so all of you may choose one, or more of the following:

1. Dot can't read.
2. She is getting careless in her old age.
3. She isn't thinking when she writes down the wrong name.
4. All of the above.

The only thing I can offer is that since moving my plants to the greenhouse, when I photograph out there and bring the photos in to my computer to process and post, I am relying on my memory for the names. I will no longer do that -- I promise to carefully look at the tag, write down the name on a piece of paper, and refer to that name when I name & save the photo.

This is Phrag. Sunspot (Waunakee Sunset x schlimii).

Here is a photo of Sunspot next to schlimii. They are photographed on the same plane, so a good comparison can be made. My schlimii just opened.
