Why does the album plant have the huge, alternating flower bracks and the normal colored form doesn't?

This is Ecuagenera's plant. I'm at Ecuagenera for the next couple of weeks.
I don't know much about why one individual would have more visible brachts than another. Any Phrag. experts want to weigh in?
My guess is it's the photographs more than anything else. Could be that the regular form was on earlier blooms than the album. Great question!

I have looked at many longifolium photos in the past and they seem to vary a lot in the bract size and distance between them. I had wondered about the diversity as well (different isolated populations??)

Nice wide dorsal on the coloured one BTW. Mine has a curled dorsal.

Phragmipedium, Phragmipedium, Phragmipedium. I need to check my spellings more carefully!
