Phragmipedium Fedora Brochu (lindleyanum x Stenophyllum)

This is a pretty interesting cross, seeing that it's a Phrag. schlimii hybrid with almost none of the trademark schlimii hybrid characteristics. At first glance, this one might seem to be just another greenie, but the richness and brightness of the golden earthy tones along with those petals makes it stand out more than something like longifolium.

This is a fairly small plant that I originally bought thinking it would stay small. At the time it was multi growth and blooming, so I thought it would stay that size. Nope. Its growths are probably twice as large now, I hesitate to call it a small grower.

It has produced 2 spikes this round. The first spike is unbranched. The second spike has 2 branches. Lots of potential for having a mass of flowers open all at once, if only for a day or two at a time.

I have the exact same lights setup lol.. great setup, you have a few more plants blooming, are you gonna post these?

Seems like just a hint of schlimii comes through in the colour of the petals and the dorsal sepal. Very interesting, especially as Stenophyllum itself is not commonly seen, let alone any of its crosses.

This plant is still blooming, though it's definitely on it's way out of flower. With the branching of the shorter spike, and the much taller unbranched spike, it put on a very full display, with up to 7 or 8 blooms open at a time. It was literally a cloud of slipper blooms. I can only imagine what this will look like in a few more years if it continues to multiply at it's current rate.

This is a great representative of what our Swedish friend
called a "potty orchid"??? I LOVE it. The colors are wonderful and so many blooms open at once would thrill me to death!
