My favorite! White dogwood grew wild in the woods were I grew up in Pennsylvania. Lovely!

Beautiful! We just bought a Pagoda Dogwood to put in our front yard. Last fall we had a landscaper come in to give us suggestions for designing our front yard and the Pagoda Dogwood was top of the list for us. They have such nice flowers and a pleasing growth habit.

The pink dogwood looks like 'Cherokee Princess' to me.
Our nursery carries lots of dogwoods and many of them
are pink to pinkish red. Hybridizers have gone wild on
trees as much as orchid hybridizers. This one is particularly pretty with large blooms.

Tom, you should see the variegated variety of 'Cherokee
Princess'. It's truly a beauty and those large blooms
stand out on the lighter foliage. It's a real WOW in the
nursery and catches the eye at a distance.

Just an old nursery person's suggestion, but look around
for some of the Jane Magnolias. There are several of them and they bloom a bit later than the Star Mags. Big
shiny leaves and a gorgeous dark pink bloom that reblooms off and on after the first flush in the spring. They need full sun and make a large plant, but worth the
space for them.

I love River Birch and have several planted around a fence perimeter, but they're a tad messy...first the catkins and then the
seeds...in the pool. There's a variety called Heritage that is very
white under the peeling bark rather than the pinkish of River.

Oh my, if I get started on trees, everyone's eyes will glaze over.
Sorry!

Dot, deer shouldn't bother dogwoods. We have many, many of both
deer and dogwoods and do get quite a bit of deer damage in the
rutting season, but never on dogwoods. I have a great remedy for
deer repellant if you'd like to hear it.
