Plant identification

All,
I acquired a plant a few months ago, but have reservations as to the ID. I know the source was from an original Sam Tsui cross. It is labelled Paph Shin Yi Williams (Dark Chocolate) x paph sanderianum (Lady in Red). However, there has been a recent post here last year by Mike, and the flowers look very different. I feel that the Shin Yi Williams could have been crossed with anitum "Ace"? Comments appreciated!

Strong adductum/anitum influence! Could it be a Johanna Burkhart/Wossner Black Wing?
I would say that in the Orchid Inn Super Special Tag Lottery, you are a not a looser!

There is a post on this forum with a cross of adductum and the flowers look very similar. Think this is just an issue of mislabelling. Very happy with the plant as there could be a couple more blooms coming and it does have 10 growths. Just repotted, very healthy root system, and settling in nicely.

A wonderful plant and great flowers. Incredibly tall spike. That is one mislabeled plant I could live with. It could be a WBW, although the dorsal is not very round as you would expect. Your suggestion of Shin Yi Williams x anitum is certainly possible. Whatever, it sure is nice.

for the little it’s worth, coming from me: my first thought upon opening the photos was “oh, anitum hybrid.”

I know anitum is not common. I have never grown it. But some years ago Hausermann’s had a whole table of anitum castoffs for relatively cheap. I visited twice that season and saw a lot of them in bloom. At least two different named line breedings. Your flower’s darkness and stance brought me back to that table.

Hi, thanks for your comments. When did you last visit them? I know from my source I acquire through Germany, and these were definitely originating from the Sam Tsui line of plants. I dealt with Sam for many years, even though I am from the UK, until his recent retirement. Either the Shin Yi Williams, is either crossed with the anitum, or adductum from this source. It's trying to obtain confirmation through others that may have the same cross. I will admit, I'm very pleased with the bloom, and comparing to others, it's got great potential. It's already in spike again, with 2 spikes, and there may be a 3rd. Thanks for your comments.

Thanks for the comments. There is some wilhelminae influence there, but the measurements were large. The spike was over a metre in height, so it will be interesting to see future blooms and flower count.
