Caraeperro means "dogface". The flower shape and color is not good... but I love it. It is a new variety of schlimii found in the eastern Cordillera of Colombia.
Leaves are about 40cm x 4cm.

It has smaller and less colored flowers and different growth habit... Also it tolerates higher temperatures than regular schlimii. I found it much easier to cultivate.

I can´t say I like it but I find it original at least.

The name is really funny! In Spain we use "cara de perro" for those people who are always angry.

Gracias por la foto y la información, Eliseo.

Those leaves are super wide and long for a schlimii. Good to hear it is easier to grow to.

In my oppinion it is schlimii...schlimii is quite variable in flower shape and growth habit:

Two variations with rounded staminode and andreettae-like growth habit:

The one I am showing in the first post has dalessandroi-like growth habit.

I think that there is a whole swarm of schlimii varieties and manzurii and even fischerii are end members...

I've been wondering about that, also. I wonder what the geneticists will say.

Another plant of this schlimii variety is in bloom.
This one is more compact than the previous I post here, but the foliage is totally different from the typical schlimii. The flowers are a little bit different also. The background is more yellowish than white and are a little bit smaller.
