Every few years we see massive webs from the 'Golden Orb Spider'. then for some reason they disappear. This year after many years of absence they seem to be back. It is incredible that these massive webs can be spun overnight. Some measure in excess of 3m diameter and are tough like spun wire. They are particularly beautiful covered in dew. Unfortunately very dry at the moment and not cool enough over night for a good dew fall, but I guess you get the idea

Got a pic of the spiders? Perhaps you can put a tea cup saucer next to one so people can get some idea of the size of these beasts. They are beautiful and terrifying like an army arrayed for battle.

Yes get a picture of the spider! I bet if you poke the web gently it will come out

Sorry, not great pictures.:(
I had a very rushed trip, but intend to spend more time there as soon as the breeding season begins. I neglected to bring a camera with me on this trip, so had to use my phones camera (which has never taken decent pics) this year there seem to be a lot more spiders than in the recent past. This season promises a wonderland of jeweled orbs on morning walks.

Wow those are much bigger GO webs than I have ever seen. We get them in our garden every once in a while and they are fascinating. I did get a faceful of a web one night cruising through my garden and it scared the hell out of me!!

I'm sorry about that. Looking at the pictures again I see the spider. My apologies :)
