Supposed to attract the bees from quite a distance due to the short longevity of the flowers. Maybe 1 km away lol. That’s why it’s so overpowering.

Jörg, great sight your Stanhopea. These flowers are very fascinating in my eyes, not by their colouration but by their shape. Well done.
Unfortunately they don't flower very long.
