Eric Young (flavum) that is! :D

Second flowering for this phrag and I'm far from satisfied. All the flowers so far have shown some distortion in their shape or pouch, as is more evident in the second pic. In this case, the petals are non symetrical. The colour is nice, but not every time.
Flower count is not high either. I'll give it another chance and if it's another strike it will end on the trash pile.:(

Flavum are pretty inbred, so what we are looking at here could be the combination of chromosome incompatibility meets a mutant allele from the flavum. Ordinarily, the healthy gene would make up for the mutant allele or chromosome incompatibility but no such luck here. Other clones may be nicer... One solution may be to do a sibling cross and hope that the genetic shuffle sorts out the problems.

The color is very nice and if you don't want this Quasimodo I would gladly offer it sanctuary.

I have one Eric Young flavum (from Cloud's, I think) that wasn't really blooming well too. It bloomed twice and both time with a subpar flower, sounds similar to your situation! I wonder if our plants are related.... :poke:

Could this be culture related? I like the colors and the dorsal & synsepal are nice. A little dent on phrag pouches is rather common isn't it?

I like the bloom, very interesting coloration!!!

And more is more: my non-id in bloom could be your bloom's sister; I have to take one more pic of it and post it here (thanks for the identification help :):)). Jean

Plant and leaves normal. No spotting, no brown tips. good shade of green. Vigorous plant in fact.
