It was a long, hot August, essentially rainless. To keep myself from melting into despair, I spent mornings going to local streams to cool off and meditate. One day sitting on a rock, I got an idea...

1) Great!
2) How easy is it to get psychedelics in Japan, anyway?
3) How were you able to stay on the bike in that condition?

I see what you mean..................
Something strangely compelling about the video. .............maybe the rhythmic white noise of the cicadas?

Yes, the cicadas do put you into a proper lull for meditation, much like shamanic drum beating, binaural beats, or any kind of chanting (Gregorian, Buddhist, or make up your own).

I love the koi in the gutter/wash by the street. They don't jump out and get run over or dried up?

Never seen one on the ground dead, so I guess they know to stay put.

1) Thanks!
2) Difficult for the most part, and very risky. If you get caught there is little, if any, leniency here.
3) I don't ride my bike under the influence ever. Beyond that, it is possible to attain similar states to psychedelic drugs without chemical induction. Lucid dreaming is perhaps the easiest to initiate on your own, meditation takes more dedication. Another option is the dream-like state of an OBE, which you can learn to induce pretty easily. The trick is patience, effort and time.

Personally, I liked the 60's way better...a bit of mescaline and TM. It's not a bad short cut if one can handle the mental isolation. I found the secret to the universe once,
but I forgot it.
