I bought this in late July. When I was hanging around the shop I found this plant named as Paph. philippinense which had a tiny brown to black shealth-like thing growing at the center. With the side growth it had put on, I assumed it was spiking.

After a while, I noticed that the leaves did not match the ordinary philippinense. The leaf span is just about 12-15". So I began to question the identity of this plant. Here is the progress:

What it was written on the pot:

I would like to bring out the guessing. What I know for sure: This is a hybrid cross definitely with one of the sequential species.

I would have thought if it was phillipinense specie it would be carrying more than one bud------- but it's not unusual for me to be wrong!
Will be beautiful when it finally opens.

I guess it is just a P. Shireen (glaucophyllum x philippinense). IMO a true philippinense would have been better.
