I'm thinking of having an orchid compotting clinic for our orchid club and was wondering which vendors have compots for sale? I did the usual google search, and checked lots of places. Some externally list having compots for sale but don't list anything on the site. So, I'm asking for places you all know, and know if they are good or bad, and also about any of the ebay sellers that may have compots. I checked ebay today and mostly was one vendor called bill_asia who sells lots of plants, but I talked with another vendor who said to beware and gave me reasons why. species or hybrids is fine, I would end up selecting a blend from a few places unless someone had an amazing variety. I've emailed a few places but unfortunately heard back from one, who told me that the p.k. x dallesandroi compots were all sold out :( . Hopefully others will have more positive news

any and all help appreciated!

The compots of sands made a terrific Christmas gift from my wife.
Generous count.
Thank you.

:confused:Am I the only one somewhat confused? If you're having a compotting clinic, then don't you want flasks that are ready for deflasking?
If they're already in a compot, then I guess making mini compots is an option.
I've gotten plants from bill_asia, which is Royal Orchid Club, the shipping was ridiculous with the more you ordered! Not again!
I've gotten compots from Chuck, Orchidbabies & you might check with Tom@Fox Valley, all were good!
Dean@Paphiness is another possibility, he's had special order ones but I think he grows some out as well.

well, I guess those that started the activity a few years ago should have named it the 'de-compotting' clinic! ;) we get compots or plug trays and pot them up. gives people a chance to try something different as a seedling without having to buy a whole compot or deal with a flask a few months before.

thanks for the info supplied; I read a few months of bill_asia's feedback, and though a good number of people were submitting negative feedback unfairly (they got five trays or plants, one was bad so they left five negatives instead of one.... for example) or were getting pissed because they bought something and it took a month to get there (but that was plainly listed on the website how the shipping schedule worked), there was a common thread that often plants would show up black, or very dry. there was a point though that whenever things were bad they were replaced (most of the time). also the shipping is a bit deceptive so you pay a ton. i'm tempted to get some brassavola david sanders, but if I ordered those for a clinic at a certain time and there was a problem, getting the plants replaced a month later would be worthless and pointless.

if nyeric was buying compots from ackers, they must be out of stock by now! :D:poke:

Ha ha! For the sake of the plants I have superior growers grow plants for me. John D., Orchids Ltd, Woodstream, etc are growing plants for me that I previously purchased; and I dont buy that many plants! So there! :p
