vandas in Europe

Bought an ebay vanda this week after seeing a friends plant in full flower.
It was a huge tesselated bright blue flower on a tall plant, I was stunned.

The plant I bought came from Anco vandas in the netherlands - 6 hectares of them!
They grow them in Thailand and 'finish' them in the Netherlands for a year before sale.

The plant itself is nearly 2 feet tall with a huge root system and a big flower stem - well pleased and cannot wait for the blooms!
The breeding of these hybrids seem to have come on leaps and bound in recent years.

Good luck with that. I have had one in a glass now for a year and a half and so far no blooms

as far as I know, the glass vase method is 'new school' here in the UK!

I think I saw it posted in an old book from the UK; I will have to look it up.

They recommend filling the vase half full once or twice a week and leaving for half an hour before removing. Feed about once a month.
I use Akerne's rain mix so will feed at low levels every watering,
