This is my prize vandopsis orchid. It is huge but has not bloomed. I have seen some specimens that are absolutely giant. I love this plant and the leaves. I'm not sure if i have ever shown this plant but it is quite rare in hobbyist collections. I really want vandopsis gigantea and have been trying to find a nice plant for a reasonable price. I was thinking a seedling but that is a whole decade of great growing. Photoroom-20250101_003818.png

The maximum size for both species is up to 100cm. tall. That is over one meter. Yours seems to be a juvenile.
The reason you don’t see them much in collections might be because of their cultural needs. They need it from warm to hot in full sun! In other words, “7 inches from the mid-day sun”. To borrow a line from a song.
They require lots of water, rapid drying and regular feedings. They take more sun then the most difficult Vandas!

I am forgetting my grade school math.

I should have included that even in my 9 years in Southwest Florida, they were rarely seen by me being offered for sale or grown by members. I saw terete-leafed Vandas on rare occasions in bloom, often grown in peoples yards. They might need light on a par with Vandopsis.
