Took these photos two weeks ago of my Witch Hazel (Autumn Embers is the variety) and could not believe how early this bloomed this year. We have had a very warm winter (except for the past three days) so must explain it.

Witch Hazel is an awesome plant with great medicinal
qualities. I have a very small one and hope it gets through
this hideous winter. Migrant, your photo gives me hope
that mine will survive this goofy winter.

Very cool! I'd like to plant a Witch Hazel and a Gingko Biloba on our property this year....both very interesting trees. The township cut down the huge dying maple on our front lawn last fall so we have room for a couple small trees now.
