Hi!

I'm getting really excited about this Paph. I have a very poor track record when it comes to the Parvi group. I can't even keep a delenatii alive long enough to bloom it. But a year ago, I purchased this Paph. HCM from shermantp on eBay. It was in bud when I received it, but the bud withered and died as soon as it arrived. Oh, well! I set the plant in the greenhouse and sorta forgot about it. I noticed two weeks ago that it was in bud. Today, I snapped a few pictures of it. I think I'm gonna have my first successful Parvi. Wish me luck!

The leaves on this plant are quite beautiful! They are very leathery. The under sides of the leaves are all reddish-purple. And obviously, I haven't killed it!

Best Regards,
Nik

Gah!
You are making me feel very nervous as a superstitious person...
but I'll knock on wood...
GOOD LUCK.
Keep us posted (I'm sure you will)

Great job, Nik. That's a really beautiful plant. The Paph. Ho Chi Minh that I have grown have shown incredible hybrid vigor - most of them grow perhaps three times as fast as either parent. I think "sorta forgetting about" paphs is one of the best ways to bloom them, I'll wish you luck but I don't think you'll need it because it looks like you're really going to bloom this one!

In my experience the flower is not particularly long lasting - so please be sure to get photos early on - we'll all want to see those.

To echo what everybody else said, this is a vigorous plant, so you should have no problems flowering it. I always get about 2 good weeks out of the flower, and then it diminishes the third week, and dies the fourth.

I had several of these and while they are pretty they didn't last more than about three days. For me that isn't long enough so I ended up giving them all away.

Hi!

An update on this one. The bud development stalled for a bit after I brought the plant into the house for the first set of photos. I put it back into the greenhouse and the bud started to develop again. I brought the plant back into the house yesterday. Looks like it's stalled again. The petals still aren't fully open. I wanted to snap a few photos while I had the chance.

I'm expecting the petals to spread out today. Let's hope that they do.

Best Regards,
Nik

for forgetting this plant,, it is growing well and great color so far.. good luck

Maybe as these get older, the flowers last longer. The first time mine bloomed, it lasted only about 3 days. Last year it was about two weeks. This year, it was over 3 weeks.

You should leave it in the GH it will last longer(with cooler temps) and may open more. It has strong coloring to it.

I have had HCM flowers last 2 weeks or so..but I can't get them to live for long.

Hi!

It's been two more days and the flower has opened up quite a bit more. It's not very flat, but I'm happy with it.
