This is also selfing progeny of the clone 'Freckles' that I bought in bud last summer. It had two growths with two spikes.
The buds took forever to develop and finally withered away as they were just opening up. Very frustrating!
Then they each started a small fan and they are now in bloom.

The first flower, on the left, has been open for a while and looking a little tired, but I wanted to wait until they both are open for the picture.

Four growths packing in this small 2inch pot. Love them! :)

This line sure is prone to bud blast. I finally got one to half-open. Congrats on yours.

I know Slipper King said his blasted too.
Still, I wonder if it's just a coincidence or lack of water and too much heat.

For mine, at least, my place was way too hot in the middle of summer when I had this guy, plus I might have dried it too much.
I was trying not to rot the roots, but it is in such a small pot with chunky mix.

This time, as soon as I saw the plant pushing spikes, I was watering at the interval of no longer than 3 days. Almost every other day, especially when the buds were developing.

I will repot it into a much larger pot after the blooms fade, and I hope it will turn into a nice little clump soon. :)

Really awesome looking plants and thanks for the growing tips! I would not part with them after spending all the trial and error period! It might be fun to pollinate them though? I don't know, then the flowers are gone :(

I am wanting to pollinate, but since this is a selfing, I don't want to self it again to avoid genetic issues as much as possible.

I was actually going to ask Slipperking for pollen from his best one. The one on the left in his group picture. At least sibling cross is better than selfing.

I would also like to use pollen from this wardii on my vini and coloratum hybrids as wardii tends to intensify the dark colors.

I once had a (wardii x vini), and the flower was like a black wardii with dark wardii leaves. It was very beautiful plant! The thing was it was very very slow to grow and I gave it away.

I can pull the pollen off, just PM me. Nicely bloomed...finally right?!! I think it was all about the summer heat. I sold a few and those all blasted for the buyers as well.
