    Paph henryanum

Not exactly sure but are you aware that you could have put all of these images into one post? I really don’t know if it makes a huge difference but one post is easier to respond to. Unless you, for example, wanted comments on an issue or problem you were having, but in general, you could...

When/how to put a stick to the flowerspike

When they are actively growing I use a thin wire stake with twist tie. Yup, that bright green junk. As the inflorescence lengthens I can tighten up on the twist tie to get it more upright and supported to help protect it. Just as a suggestion, I would say not to stake it too rigid. Stiff and...

Wanted Chunky sponge rocks and charcoals source

I use the Green Barn Orchid Supply store in Delray Beach Florida. They have just about everything an orchid grower could possibly need. They carry many different sized bags of ingredients as well as different grades, fine, medium etc. Charcoal and perlite shipped dry really do not weigh all that...

Paph. Gloria Naugle - NOT! (Magic Lantern)

I can understand you are disappointed and upset but what can be done now after all of these years? Sam is retired and moved south a couple years back. I guess what I might do is: Keep it Sell it to recoup some money Buy another Naugle or trade for one here if you can.

    Solarizing soil?

I have been using the same soil in 4 large containers for 6 years, ever since I arrived in Michigan. I top dress or add a couple of inches of new soil every spring when I plant. I grow tomato's, 3 cherry tomato's in one container, bell peppers and cucumbers on a wire cage. Yield is consistently...

    Phragmipedium Acker's Ornament

Wow! That is very nice DJ! It has wonderful color! What do we call that? Kind of deep peach color. Or is it more salmon? But that rich yellow in the pouch is gorgeous! Like it a lot.

    What is that?

Gosh, I always thought it was fungal. My bad. No doubt these diagnoses can get tricky. Sometimes the more i look into it, the harder it gets.

    What is that?

According to the Saint Augustine Orchid Society web site, it looks a lot like Psuedomonas sp. a fungal disease. Clip and treat with cinnamon or any other suitable fungicides. Improve air movement.

    Sheath?

3N and 4N refer to the number of chromosomes that a plants has. 2N is normal, 3N’s are typically referred to as triploids, 4N’s are thought to provide better flowers and stronger and slower growth due to twice the normal number of chromosomes. If I had a dollar for every plant I bought as near...

    First multifloral paph!

Me personally Morja, I repot every plant that I buy right away. Well 95% of what I acquire. I do so regardless of departure point or vendor location. I am kind of quirky that way. I want to know right from the get go, what the roots look like and I want it growing in my media or mix as soon as...

do I have reason to complain?

Having lived in Florida for 9 years, that looks like black rot. It cost me more money then I ever want to think about. It struck young plants and old plants. Smaller plants were very vulnerable. Black rot can kill very quickly, One day the plant looks fine and 36 hours later it is hopelessly...

Help with identifying cause of black/brown spots on Phrag

It is quite an ordeal for plants to be wrapped up and shipped. This has happened to me on many an occasion. I even have lost leaves on the oldest growths here and there. I always credit it to the rigors of being wrapped up in a box. I see you are in Georgia. To ship things to you during the very...

Neo. Yodonomatsu - from LI Jane

Looks like a bean leaf or a bean leaf Fukiran hybrid. The flowers are a bonus. Fukiran are judged for foliage.
