    Hello from South Germany

Hello Rainer, Welcome on board from Copenhagen, Dk. This could be said to be the British understatement of the year: they are a hardcore kernel of growers of 1st class Cattleyas! Proof is to be found in the section 'Non-slipper orchid photos'. However, they are both nice and helpfull people -...

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

In the present case I would consider us more in the realm of arguments than in the realm of opinions. But what pertains your second point, Leslie, I can only wholeheartedly concur: Maybe with the added proviso: everyone is entitled to keep a civic and pleasant tone! 😇

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

Take a closer look at the prominent frontal shield, and let me know, if your "duck" might not instead be a coot?! 😁

Paph Micran Magic (Shun Fa Golden 'Wotan' FCC x micranthum 'Dana Lynn')

Better keep the grumpines as well as the fat-shaming to ourselves, Leslie, and spare this very beautiful flower our anthromorphisms.... said GOG (the Grumpy Old Git 😁)

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

I can't imagine, that anyone here intends to impinge on your 1st amendment rights, Tom... and for my sake you are free to call them P. goldilocks, P. rapunzel, or whatever is most to your liking! 😁

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

Dear Dirck, in this instance there is no need to prostrate yourself unduly. The owner of this thread, brought it upon himself: And in my experience, Leslie has never been one to shy away from, neither to be offended by a stimulating discussion! 🫠 Alas, I agree, we have all (yet again) made...

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

Dear, oh dear....bearing the present political climate in mind..."Proud T.E.l.L.s"...maybe one better stand back, stay clear and take counsel immediately! 😁

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

I might have expressed myself too bombastic - by 'universally' I just meant by a large chunk, maybe even a majority of (otherwise sensible) botanist! Of course there will never be - and never should be total unanimousity on everything among botanists - that would leave science petrified and...

Paph. rothchildianum "Borneo" FCC/AOS X self

Var. very nice! Tom, if my memory doesn't elude me, 'Borneo' is a jungle collected clone, right? In which case I'll have to eat a slice of humble pie, because of my former cheeky remark about horizontal petals and naturally occuring Roths!

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

Leslie, if you accept the point of view, that leucochilum is, at the most, a variety of godefroyae, I might be persuaded to live with these flowers/plant as leucochilum... and some darn good flowers they are, indeed! 😛 I can even follow some of Tom's rather sarcastic musings over the futility...
