    Paphiopedilum henryanum

These grow like weeds for me. One of the few I can reliably bloom every year. I have noticed that the shape, size and color vary on the same plant every year. I've almost got rid of two because of the shape. The next year the shape was great, although the color wasn't as good. I would say this...

Where have all the Phrag. Jason Fischers gone?

I remember getting bored at work and heading off to the Zone. I can vividly remember the thousands of besseaes in in bloom. b JF I believe this Jason Fischer sold to the Japanese for an ungodly large sum.

    A pale schlimii

Well. Damn. Continuing my re-potting and: Guess I should pay more attention. This bloomed way faster than I expected. On a tiny plant also. Now I just have to wait for more to bloom. Gotta love flasks from Chuck!

Phragmipedium caricinum - Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio?

I bought three of these from Windy Hill. Two should bloom soon. If they are really caricinums, I will do a sib cross and share the pollen.

    A pale schlimii

This is really interesting and I think it gives a good case that using a single flower to define a type is probably not the best way to do. Main reason I am not paying crazy prices for these new species is I don't really beleive they are all new. Maybe in a few centuries, if the forests are...

    New blooms

I bought several flasks from Hengduan Biotech. The wardii, venustum & coccineum are starting to bud. Should have a coccineum in about a week. The emersonii's are moving along at a much slower pace. probably another year or two. All the flasks I bought at this time are doing really well. They...

    canhii update

It's been five months and so far so good: I tried two media: I tried adding some sphagnum, but it didn't work out so well. Repotted and the plant is starting to recover. seems to be good leaf growth with the coarser mix but much better root growth with the finer mix. Both are 4 parts bark...
