    Paphiopedilum papuanum forma alboviride

Hi Olaf, Thank you very much for your kind guidance and wonderful support throughout the entire process of description and publication! Only by getting involved, you see how much time, knowledge and specific skills are needed to do it correctly. It certainly would not have happened without you...

Paphiopedilum barbigerum album x villosum aureum

Beautiful flower and interesting proof that when crossing two albinos that are each dificient in a different synthesis step of red pigment, their offspring can potentially fix the problem and produce non-albinos. Also, I guess barbigerum would also be forma aureum not album?

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

This will be my last "on the definition of leucochilum" reply. First apologies to all who posted wonderful pictures and had their pictures focus highjacked by my/our taxonomical comments. Secondly I really love that we constructively share different opinions and useful information. I am always...

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum ‘Double Trouble’

Please let us also not forget that "leuco-chilum" means "white-lip" and was clearly named by Rolfe with this unique feature in mind.... By a proud T.E.I.L. member 😉

Paph Bel Royal 'Memoria Terry Turner' AM/AOS

I am so grateful for people sharing PPFD values and/or DLI ! This allows much better comparing than " x cm away from my LED lights" or " x % shade cloth", which are in reality very relative measures when in different countries or when using different LED's. I wished more people would do the...

    The perfect paph

not a surprice, I would go for easy growing albino's of every species: white, green-white and/or yellow color forms. parishii would certainly on my list as well. but imagine a yellow roth, a yellow sander...

Drying and epoxying slippers - any advice?

Interesting topic... it would be nice to learn how it went. I could imagine the inside of the pouch could be a bit tricky to cover with epoxy

Hi Linda,I think you can click on your name on the top bar. It should bring a popup windows where you can click on account details. Again this brings a new popup screen with a change botton after your user name.

    Dying paph

here is my experience with sanders I see the bark looks very dark/wet, not sure even a bit white moldy spots? It could be staying wet too long. it looks to me that container has very little drainage openings for its volume - I would consider increase drainage at the bottom or even a few holes...

    My Paphiopedilums in 2023

I like the highly curved "horns" and nice color contrasts !!

    Paphiopedilum godefroyae

Jens, I just LOVE your statement: the human wish to turn every unique species flower shape into a flat round big pancake that even the real pollinators would no longer recognize is making me really sad. I am fully happy with looking for round shapes in hybrids, but absolutely not for species. I...

    Paph. micranthum fma. singchianum

Hi, thank you for sharing the posting, it is still a rarely seen beauty. Olaf (ORG in this forum) , Zhou Dong and Liang have discribed this beautiful color form in the Orchid Digest in 2022. It is named in honor professor Sing-Chi Chen and you can find the full story and more pictures in Olaf's...

    Paph. superbiens fma. sanderae

The nursery where I got it from also had Goultenianum, Maudiae, Alma Gevaert... in albino form and most of their species ancestors in color form, so I am certain we can exclude those as possibilities.

Is $700 a year on orchids a lot?

I usually measure "hours of joy" against my "money spent". You could spent 700$ on a vacation and have joy for a week. You could spent 700$ treating friends on a festival and have joy for 1 days. or you could 700$ on slipper orchids and enjoy them for many years. Usually that is the all the...
