Paph. fairrieanum ('Red Wonder' x self)

Hi Lori, very nice one! Could you please post also a picture of the plant?

    paph niveum fma album

Genetically none. Botanists that discribe plants and growers that register crosses are working independantly in parralel worlds with different agenda's. This is how they come to co-exist. Indeed artificial crossing can make selections that would be VERY UNLIKELY happening in nature, like two...

    paph niveum fma album

Hi Merc, I love the way you reacted to the 'mistaken identitity' situation. You have a lovely Greyi fma. album to be proud off. 🏆 Next flowering try not to change the orientation of the container/flower while the flower is opening and the wonky staminode on your little cutie could be fixed...

    Paph emersonii

I am sorry Hope, I am very bad at discribing any fragrances. It is certainly not overpowering, you have to get closer to smell it, my best would be like "a mix of wild flowers" or "similar to delenatii" . Maybe when more Paph's would have been fragrant I might have been better in describing them...

    Paph emersonii

I just love the fragrance on this one. First flowering, the flower took a really long time to mature, but during the latest hot days, it made fast progress on the last leg. I was affraid it would dry up due to the dry air acompaning the heat, but luckily I can enjoy it now...

My Spring and Summer Flowers 2023

Hi Annica, I always love all your pictures and comments! Please keep them coming! You know albinos have a special place in my heart. I always use album instead of alba for white albinos: The rule is to always follow the gender of the genus, so for any PaphiopedilUM it will always be albUM, same...

    paph niveum fma album

Paph. x ang-thong is the natural hybrid between godefroyae and niveum Paph. Greyi is the the artificial hybrid between godefroyae and niveum considering the albino forms are crossed, we can assume Greyi

    Sanderianum alba?

Hi Theodore, here is my 'fred flintstone' reply on 'producing albinos', I am no botanist or geneticist but I hope I can explain some basics. ALBINO SPECIES Albino forms are occuring spontanious. Very rarely offspring has defective genes. When this defect happens on the genes responsible for...

    Sanderianum alba?

OK more context: Midsomer Murders is a British crime drama television series, where in the mentioned episode above, a murder was commited on rare orchid collector to steal a "yellow roth". the picture I shared is the flower they used in that episode. I don't recall any other television series...

    Paphiopedilum leucochilum

I am 100% with Rudolf: There is no "partially unspotted" with any spotting present. There is no "partially albino" with any red pigment present. Very similar to being pregnant, there is no "partially pregnant", you either are or you are not. This for sure does not mean I think any less of these...

    My Blooming Beauties

🙏🙏 Thanks for all the likes and the very nice comments. There are indeed more albino seedlings growing in my collection but not yet big enough to bloom. Finding them at a reasonable price & growing them to maturity is a labor of patience as you all know, but I will post for sure when they bloom...

    My Blooming Beauties

I managed to get a few more albinos in bloom since my "member introduction" post from 2021. So I guess it's high time to share another "family photo". Of course it is photo-edited together, but they are all my albino plants that flowered so far.

    Paph tonsum fma alboviride

Just green and white is back :-) This year a much better shape.. .always taking take care to position exactly the same orientation after watering... but the stem reveals I was not always spot on when putting it back. I really like the special backward petal curves.

    Counterfeit primulinum???

I had a real primulinum purchased in 2006 from a (now closed) nursery that also had it like 'forever' in their own collection but never could flower it and were willing to sell it. It perfectly resembled the plants I remembered from the early years when they were first wild collected. It proved...

    volonteanum

reference & all credits to G. Braem's Paphiopedilum book : key to the species: hookerae: Leaves oblong tongue-shaped, the underside unspotted; petals spathulate, subacute volonteanum: Leaves narrowly ligulate, the underside spotted purple; petals broadly spathulate, obtuse So I belief the...

    Team paph or phrag

    1. Team Paph, for me, the bigger variety in shapes and color forms 2. Roth, for having the descency to grow up instead always trying to grow horizontally 3. Sorry... none of the above... besseae or longifolium, for have albino forms and here is my 'feel good' roots picture ;-)

    Exotic plant company?

Hi Theodore, I have ordered multiple times from Exotic Plant Company and always received very good quality plants. They do have a nice broad range of Paphiopedilums. I purchased one of the sanderianum seedling last year and it is good quality, probably a few years from flowering for me, but...

    couple of cochlos

Don't get me wrong Istvan, I like your plant very much, but I agree with Martin that it looks more like a hybrid style "Pinocchio". You can compare with my v-m at the left which I belief is a more typical form than yours at the right. I am looking in v-m for highly flexed flag, pointed and...
