    Paph. randsii

I’ve seen the photos of smallish plants in bloom as well as this monster … is it that they can bloom even when small or or these different varieties?

Very nice - looks like I was more then we’ll worth the wait. Can’t wait to see when they’re all open. May I ask where the seedlings were from?

Paphiopedilum philippinense var. philippinense ‘Keith’s Smile’ AM/AOS

Good to know. How is it different from this photo. Is the veining more prominent? Would be great to compare if you have a photo for our education.

    Paphiopedilum philippinense var. roebelinii

This is helpful discussion. I thought var roebelinii is supposed to have the the larger flowers and longer twisrted petals compared to regular philippinense. In this case, it seems that smaller plants on the right with the smaller flowers are roebelinii?

    Paphiopedilum philippinense var. roebelinii

Thanks for this Incharm. Can you confirm which one is which in this photo with the flowers? Are the larger 2 plants on the left with the broader longer leaves roebelinii? The smaller ones on the right with the thinner leaves and the smaller flowers the “normal” philippinense? The earlier...

Congratulations to you both! Did the judges question the var philippinense description of the plant or is that something judges don’t comment on?

Very impressive. I got to see the Windsong clone at SEPOS. They said they may have seedlings from a selfing in a few years.

Paph. rothschildianum ' Rex x Mont millais Fcc/Aos'

Thanks LO, looks like they’re all around from 20 yrs ago or so, so far. Great to see the comparisons. I have a Rex x MM around 24 in LS that I was told needs a few yrs to bloom, looks like the cross was made again at a later time or I have a really slow grower.

Paph. rothschildianum ' Rex x Mont millais Fcc/Aos'

Was the Rex x MM cross made multiple times? Are the plants you have all shared started around the same time?

    Waiting for Hsinying Anita

Thanks for the tip! I should wait then for the bud to be more developed before putting a clip and then use bigger clips. hopefully I’ll get more spacing in between.

    Waiting for Hsinying Anita

Thanks. This is very helpful. I see that the spacing looks better and maybe a wider dorsal on the 2nd bloom? Did it get an award?

    Waiting for Hsinying Anita

Update on this - here it is in bloom. I was hoping for darker dorsals and perhaps more distance between the blooms. What do you think? Is this likely to get better with the next bloom?

Very impressive - can you share how you flask seeds? How do you maintain sterility? We could learn from what you’ve done so well.
