Ann I staking it right? Have not grown a lot of MFs before. I’m hoping the middle bud will gradually turn sideways as it matures.

Update on this - here it is in bloom. I was hoping for darker dorsals and perhaps more distance between the blooms. What do you think? Is this likely to get better with the next bloom?

I haven't shown it, the second bloom was last year while our judging center was still shut down for COVID. I'd like to see a fourth flower before I considered submitting it, but if I was already headed up I might show it with three and see what happens.

The way your staking is wrong! You will stop the development of the flower stem.
Put the clip under the first flower bud is OK now. When the stem developed and the second flower bud almost done, then put an another clip.
And, make the base of the clip attach the stick so that there is a space for stem growing. Do not make the stem and the stick fasten together.

Thanks for the tip! I should wait then for the bud to be more developed before putting a clip and then use bigger clips. hopefully I’ll get more spacing in between.
