    Paph. acmodontum

Great bloom with nice colors? Does the tag say anything about the parent clones?

    Paphiopedilum acmodontum ‘Joy Luck Club’

That’s right. My tag though does not say x sib, it just says ‘Magnifico’ - and I doubt it’s a division of the original plant. I guess it could be a selfing, a sib cross or an out cross depending on what was missing from the tag?

    Paphiopedilum acmodontum ‘Joy Luck Club’

My plant is also from QF, but I take the tag to mean it’s a selfing. Let’s see when it blooms.

    Paphiopedilum acmodontum ‘Joy Luck Club’

Leslie, Great it’s kept its shape and color for so long. Do you know the clonal parentage? I have one that’s labeled ‘Magnifico’ x sib. Hoping it will have good shape and colors too.

    Small Paphiopedilum philippinense

Hi Nick, the photos you’ve posted of the 2 clones of small Paph philippinense are quite nice. I wonder if you ever had seedlings of them or divisions you’re willing to sell? Thanks.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

That’s good to know. What I noticed from the article by Olaf Gruss is a photo of a philippinense compactumwith a reddish lip. I didn’t appreciate there was such a variant of philippinense.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Thanks! It’s nice that the Alba form is small. There’s a phil var compactum aureoviride that’s been reported - I wonder if this could be in the background for what we have.

    Pair of Paph Philippinense

Pair of philippinenses. I particularly like the compact size of the plants. While the petals are not as long as I was hoping for, the regular form is about 13-14 inches leafspan. The album is only about 8 or 9 inches total leafspan.

Yes, that was a very informative talk you gave at N Jersey!

    Garbage???Philippinense

There are apparently naturally occurring clones with split synsepal per below. I wonder if instead of being an aberration, it’s a form that’s awaiting recognition?

    Paph. Hung Sheng Eagle

Thanks so much for sharing this detailed information and the photos. One of the components you mention Google translates to granite; if that’s accurate, it’s quite interesting. Also sounds like a durable medium - seems like you probably don’t need to repot often with that media.

Incredible flowers - as with the Lady Isabel you posted. Any growing tips? Temps, light, watering, fertilizing?

Incredible! Would you mind sharing the clonal names of the parents?

    A Couple Nice roths

Incredible! I can see why this one species has such a cult around it. I’m just starting to get into Roths and got a large seedling (20 inch ls, 5 leaves) of Rex x MM from Windy Hill, hope a few years will be enough to see some blooms. Any particular tips you have to maximize growth - temps...

    Paph philippinense

Congratulations - Very nice color as well. Looks like the plant is compact too, what is the leafspread?

    Paph. stonei

Very nice, thanks for posting. Mine of the reverse cross is supposed to be NBS, but it’s barely half the size of yours - so will probably take several more years. .. Did you repot it into its original pot since you got it? For my larger Orchid Inn plants I always wonder if I should change...

    Paphiopedilum philippinense

Amazing blooms! Do the petals get longer as the plant matures? I have one with 15 cm petals on first bloom- nicely proportioned, but just wondering what to expect in the future. Also, how do you buy retail from HoF?

    Paphiopedilum philippinense

Thanks! This is very helpful - my plant is indeed grown indoors. I will try to increase rel hum for the next blooming.
