Maybe I should give my stonei flasklings to someone else, since men in my family die young lol.

Dark Angel and Howard P Martin are both AOS awarded plants originally from Orchid Zone, exhibited by (edited, sorry, I misremembered) Fred Capricio and Howard Martin, and awarded at the Sierra Nevada center. Here are the links to their award photos & info, courtesy of CSNJC. Dark Angel Howard...

    Bud watch: Disa atricapilla

Sink or swim, I ain't no helicopter parent.

    Bud watch: Disa atricapilla

Meh. At this point, I do what I do. If it lives, fine; if it dies, fine.

    Bud watch: Disa atricapilla

A friend imported the seed & sent some to me for flasking. I did it for free on the condition I could keep one.

Keep your fingers crossed. In low bud about 14 months from sowing the seed.

Is this Paph fairrieanum a seedling, 4N, or just small?

I suspect what you got is a plant that was growing well for a while, then lost most of its roots, and therefore most of its momentum. As you build its root mass back up, it will turn back into a regular fairrieanum.

    Some seedling progress

Here's vigor for ya: I got this henryanum from Sam right before he closed up for good as a single growth. Now it's ten, and pushing its first sheath. Consistently produces 3-4 new leads per growth. I'll probably use it to add vigor to other grexes, no matter what the flowers look like.

What to do with old growths?

I leave them; they can resprout.

    Mexi in sheath at least

21 spikes, 20 of them will bloom together.

What is the deal with paphiopedilum randsii?

Same as you. They're about ready to pop out of that compot, now that they're used to bright light. Looks like yours are ready for individual pots too. 😁

What is the deal with paphiopedilum randsii?

*Covers babies' ears* You're gonna give them a complex!

What is the deal with paphiopedilum randsii?

I don't find randsii any more difficult than the rest. It was one of the first Paphs I got when I got back into orchids more than ten years ago and I grew it to blooming size before giving it to my friend. ( It bloomed for him 4 months later grr.) You'll have no trouble with it.

    Sometimes they don't work out.

That would already be on fire here...

Sold My Paph tigrinum with 2 spikes for your BS sanderianum from Orchid Inn

Don't be so sure. A clump of tigrinum in spike is also an expensive thing.

Paph. Johanna Burkhart ‘Tejas’ AM / AOS

I've often thought that if the score comes out to 79.1- 79.4 or 89.1-89.4, that judges should have a chance to just call it an AM or FCC by majority acclamation.
