Phalaenopsis Hell’s Fury ‘Red Devil’ AM/AOS

I don’t remember…it was over 20 years ago but I do know they had the owner of RF Orchids in Miami on the show and they showed him at shows with his Vandas. They showed Cats as well, but I didn’t recognise any of the Cat people.

It is my FAV green cat! I had one and lost it to the storm that destroyed most my collection (Afraid to put orchids out in Summer now) I bought it in a shop in Raleigh NC that sold exotic accessories for home decorators/owners. I will buy another one the moment I get an opportunity LOL

Wild collected Phrag Kovachii for sale is still the norm in Peru

Well, not “We” per se, but greedy individuals who are willing to look the other way and get it on the downlow! It is the black market, and the odds they will show up anywhere legal is nil. I can’t say it is “Phrag growers” and orchid people. I truly believe the majority of us have pretty high...

Wild collected Phrag Kovachii for sale is still the norm in Peru

I am sure Peru has rules in place attempting to protect the habitats, but difficult to police because the habitats are so remote!

    delenatii tree

I had a Paph that did that and roots would die…refused to bloom! Took it to Paph expert and he said he had never seen the like and short of mounting it sideways on sphagnum, it couldn’t root from the nodes which he said was necessary to get more blooms. He said it basically climbed out of the...

    Phragmipedium Cotton Candy

Forgive the repeats, no idea why it occasionally will do that. I hope it was ok to put them in my comments

    Phragmipedium Cotton Candy

I agree it is an incredible bloom! I have a hold on my Phrag collection! Full up between the Phrags and Phals! My un named Phal collection grew by 4 over Mother’s Day/My Bday. My son, admitting a weakness for them bought me 4 new Phals, called Petites and 1 mini.

    Phrag. pearcei in habitat

Mine are all in slatted pots for air with a raised bottom. I got them from repot me along with the Phrag media! They stand in trays with 1-2” of water and they are happy as pigs in mud. I am dreading the hot part of summer but I do have a plan this year to keep the foliage cooler!

    Phrag. lindleyanum

Looks like a very nice and happy plant! The urge to grow native plants is a wonderful one! Ours are protected as well! (Cymbidium Reginae is the most commonly known!) All the flasks and divisions are descended from wild grown. The limited number of successfully grown plants used in breeding...

Wow, Phal with 2 new leaves!

It is most likely the soil breaking down. As I have mentioned in the post, they are both due to be repotted and cleaned up. The leaves are not shrivelled. I lost a whole raft of lower leaves as the flowers wound down, after I received it 4 years ago. The media was crappy and lots of lost roots...
