    Perennial Garden Construction Photo Essay

She loves it and has done an okay job keeping up with it... I've been gone over 4 years now. Hi Linus Yes that is a peach tree. Survived the subzero winters there quite well but most years we got a late frost right in the middle of the bloom season. It also suffered severely from root nematodes...

    Perennial Garden Construction Photo Essay

My wife and I lived in Colorado for a few years before we moved to NJ. While there we stayed at my sisters house on the outskirts of Colorado Springs. Her yard was a wreck... Gardening was not her thing. When we got there she was on the east coast doing an internship so we had the place...

    Cattleya Heathii album

Not much else to say... I love this flower. I was looking for a division of a good one but wasn’t having any luck so I bought this unbloomed plant a year ago. I think I lucked out with this one.

This next feature is a favorite of mine. Because the shape of this pond was ordinary I wanted to obscure the shoreline wherever I could. I built this zigzag bridge that is on the land then cantilevered over the water then back on the land then cantilevered over the water again and then back onto...

Not the best presentation but this bloom opened upside down and against a leaf... I like it though.

The Hardest Paph I’ve Ever Grown - Paphiopedilum charlesworthii fma. alba (New Wave AM/AOS x First Class AM/AOS)

For me this has been the hardest Paph I’ve ever grown. I bought two of these plants June of 2015 as 3 fan, near blooming size charlesworthii from Sam at Orchid Inn. The plants were great and immediately put on a couple new growths... then they died back to one growth. Both plants repeated this...

    Variegated or nutrient deficient?

You are correct... that's why I suggested moving it to lower light first or covering part of a leaf.

    Variegated or nutrient deficient?

Lol... exactly what I said in the first response to the original question. I can’t guarantee it but it cost you nothing. It would have been better to have done this first then look at other issues if it did no good. Throwing a bunch of things at a problem can give you the result you’re looking...

    Landscape/Garden Design

Time for a new garden... the owners of this property visited my garden late one summer and asked if I would do some work for them. I don’t design/build gardens for a living so I can afford to work on my own terms more-so than the average landscaper. There are two things I require if I’m going to...

Absolutely not. Bamboo roots need oxygen therefore their root system is shallow. I dug up some clumps with 3-5 culms each and sold them. The rest I lifted in 4x4' sections with a Bobcat and transplanted them to a friends garden.

These are the last photos I’m going to post on this garden. As you know from some of the photos I had a Bamboo hedge separating the garden from the road. The Bamboo was Phyllostachys aureosulcata (Yellow Groove Bamboo). It’s a running Bamboo but was kept from entering into the garden by a 2’...
