My Wife Calls this my ‘Man Cave’

We came to New Jersey 5 years ago to take care of my father-in-law who was in failing health. He passed away the end of October and we’re selling his house. The last part of the house to be fixed up is the area I have been growing my orchids in. It took me the weekend... but I got everything...

    C. walkeriana alba

Hello spes1959, I do not follow Charles Baker’s culture recommendations for C. walkeriana... I am familiar with them but because I grow in the house I don’t have the luxury of adjusting my conditions to my plants. I have about 4000 Paphiopedilum and about 150 C. walkeriana and they’re all in the...

    Paphiopedilum Love Conquers

This is the second plant to bloom of the cross I made between (Paph concolor x Paph Sorcerers Love). It’s very different from the first one to bloom. There are a couple more in bud and I can’t wait to see what they look like. The next photo is of the first to bloom. I posted this last year...

Paphiopedilum Munchkin Mopsi Aru (Wei-Ling Ting x boxallii atratum)

You can really see the atratum coming through in this cross. Hopefully the next ones to bloom will have a more open stance. I do like the color though.

Paphiopedilum Munchkin King Cheeriobed (acmodontum x King Charles)

Nice outcome from this cross. My King Charles was okay for this mini type cross but not good enough for complex breeding. I sold it once I knew the cross was viable and have been looking for a good one to replace it. This is a great little mini Paph flower and acmodontum brings different...

    Lc. Bertie Vasconi

These are the first two to bloom from a compot given to me a few years ago. All the ones I’ve seen from this particular pod were yellow as was the first one I bloomed. The second one to bloom for me was orange and I like the color.

Cattleya walkeriana semi alba ‘Tokyo #1’

This is a mericlone Plant of ‘Tokyo #1’ I got from Frank Smith while attending the Slipper Symposium this year. It was in bud when I bought it and this inflorescence was produced and bloomed about one month after the first one. The flowers on the first inflorescence were a bit bigger and...

Paphiopedilum villosum var laichaunum ‘Joshua’ AM/AOS

JLOG The plant shown as var. annamense in the vendors screen shot you attached looks like it may be miss labeled also. That flower looks more like var fusco-roseum. I’d love to find some of those available in the states.

    Paphiopedilum Paradise Gem

This is a cross Dave Sorokowsky made. I have two and bloomed them both this year. The first was a totally green flower but I don’t have a good photo of it. The attached photo is of the second plant to bloom. They’re mini Paphs and both are pretty cute.

(Paph Fumi’s Delight x Paph concolor fma striatum)

I have the only surviving seedlings from this cross so when the first one bloomed and I sent the photo to the hybridizer he named it after me... humbled! The second of this hybrid, now named Paphiopedilum Fred Allen, has bloomed and it’s quite different from the first. What do you think of this...

    Paphiopedilum sukhakulii

I got a Paphiopedilum sukhakulii from Chuck Acker when he was going out of Paphiopedilum. He had selfed it and I bought it with the pod on it. The plant has Flowered a few time sense then and the flowers were small for a sukhakulii but were a very interesting color so I have kept it for making...

Paphiopedilum villosum var laichaunum ‘Joshua’ AM/AOS

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone. Hello JLOG Sorry for the long delay in a response... I started a new job that has left me with a lot less free time. I agree that your plant is not var annamense. You can see from the link GuRu attached above that var annamense would have a white halo...

First Bloom of Paphiopedilum Stoned Matthew

This is the first bloom from the cross I made (Memoria Matthew P Dewitt x Lady Isabel). Paph Memoria Matthew P Dewitt is a sequential blooms and Lady Isabel is a multi floral with several blooms open at the same time. Looks like this is tending towards the sequential side.... we’ll see. I sold...

    Paphiopedilum daoense

I haven’t bloomed this for the last six years. It’s grown a lot and finally bloomed again. Before anyone corrects me about its species status I’ve attached a email from Olaf.
