It is so cute given the small size of the plant just 3 to 4" leaf span. I don't want it to grow larger! Lol!

It's been open for a few days. It hasn't looked like it has expanded any more but I'll keep watch. I've been reluctant to purchase this hybrid because of the "dogs" I've seen but am quite happy with it.

This is a division of a CCE/AOS I purchased from David Bird who got the award. I think he told me too that this is the only division he let go but that was a couple of years ago. It has a second bud but appears it's stuck in the center of the fan.

Thanks for the responses. I figured that the quality may be poor due to the price I got it at. I haven't bloomed a roth in years. Time will tell.

So I did a thing today.... I pollinated this flower with some of my tigrinum pollen back in January. In the last few days I noticed that the pod was browning and looked like it might be starting to split so today I snipped the pod off and mailed it off to be sown. Fingers crossed that there...

It arrived last year in flower and of course it was mangled from shipping but it is appletonianum or “variety” thereof. Yes the leaves hardly have any markings and remind me of “wolterianum” leaves. I’ll post a pic once the flowers open.

I think it was a bit too bright for a good pic but I'm liking this flower Will try again for a better photo but it can be only as good as a cellphone camera can take... Right!? 😁

This appletonianum is really trying its hardest to bloom. The bud on the fully mature fan blasted and I was really bummed. But! Look at these two very young growths producing flowers! The right hand growth is only a couple inches long but check out that tiny left hand growth! Weird! I got this...

Blooming again! The pouch isn't rippled like last year.

Clone #3 also flowering I like this darker one! The first clone I posted first is flowering also but waiting for the flowers to fully open. It will be interesting to compare all three together.

Got this recently in bud so I hope that I can rebloom it in the future. Sib cross is #5 x Lavender Lover. Did any one else flower this cross yet?

I got one from Sam a couple of months ago. Excited to see it bloom but not in bud currently.
