    Sanderianum in low bud

Kind of looked blasted in the first pic... Maybe next year. They start to grow pretty well once they get to flowering size.

    Habenaria storage

    I have even less closet/basement. :)

    Habenaria storage

Normally I just let my habenaria go dormant and keep them in the pots... But this year I need space so I was planning on just storing them as tubers. Anybody do this? I was wondering what best practice was. Refrigerator? Just room temp in the dark?

    Any Guesses?

Roth x St. Swithin maybe. Still would like more than one flower. You could have Prime Child x roth or maybe Vanguard x roth, that would crush the flower count pretty well. Probably not worth keeping it, whatever it is. Especially since you have so much space to work with. :)

    Fairreanum hybrid name search

First step. Find out if the first parent is named...https://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticulturaldatabase/orchidregister/parentageresults.asp Evidently it is Arc-en-Ciel So now you look up Arc-en-ciel x fairrieannum - give it a try. :)

    Paph charlesworthii

I bloom the alba (fma. sandowiae) better and more frequently than the 'normal' form. In fact I have two alba in bloom right now... :) The one in the picture was awarded AM/AOS last year. It is a clone that Sam Tsui was using fairly frequently in crosses, and I've put it on a few things...

    Paphiopedilum Bailey's Bid

Ross, I forgot Donna's Bird was a fowlei cross. I had one or two and I thought it was quite nice. Even used it in a cross (x hainanense? ). Was dumb enough to sell the first few to bud (in bud) and the rest are growing much more slowly. Of course. Can't find the picture that I was sent...

    Paphiopedilum Bailey's Bid

Fowlei x parishii is the one I remember... Actually I don't remember if it was my cross, but I flasked it only one bloomed. There is a picture of it somewhere, on a different computer. I have the regular color form of fowlei. Might be a year before I divide it again (think I gave away the...

    Paphiopedilum Bailey's Bid

I can say I've not yet met a fowlei hybrid that I thought was great... Made at least one myself that was pretty awful. :) But the color is really good. Would be better if it had the henryanum stem as well as the color. Fowlei is cute as a species - although the stem is always way too long...

does this look like a virus?

No, quite the opposite. But, maybe to be more clear: A) smoke probably does still contain live virus now that I think about it more... I just read something a few weeks ago about wildfire smoke spreading both bacteria and viruses (not something I'd ever even considered). B) It is likely that...

does this look like a virus?

As I learned it the virus survives the burning of the cigarette. So it is the smoke that transfers the virus, not the people. That virus can't grow in people... I always found that a little far-fetched, but maybe it is true. Not at all far fetched to assume that somebody who handles tobacco...

SelectOrchids Plants Price list for the US October export.

Those sound pretty good... :) I made a couple crosses like that last year but have no idea if they germinated. I'll have to take another look at the list, been too busy with the beginning of the semester to do anything.

SelectOrchids Plants Price list for the US October export.

Is that a flask? Thinking of ordering a few plants, but haven't done it. If anyone wants to try a flask or two but is uncomfortable with the thought of deflasking, I'm happy to establish them for you in exchange for a seedling or two... Everything on the list looks good!

    Wanted Sanderianum flask

Me too... It has always been the toughest species for me to grow. I would love to know how people who can actually grow it are doing with them. I compotted a couple flasks but I'm sort of purposefully not remembering exactly where I put them on the shelves. That way if they do well I can...

    Thrips on Phrags….:(

Distance. Or you can get the same thing (maybe a slightly different concentration?) as 'Pivot'. That plus azamax and imidocloprid or Safari as part of the same mix. I think it is really important to use at least two different mechanisms of action simultaneously. Mites - no imidocloprid...

    Paph Temptation 'LF Ron'

Kolopakingii is a lot bigger plant than philippinense and has a much higher flower count per spike. That somewhat horizontal presentation (the spike goes up and then goes sideways) seems to be pretty typical for kolo. Twisty petals and deeper colors come from philippinense. Hybrid is easier...

    Paph Saiun 'Littlefrog Too'

So... Brought four plants to judging today and this was my lock, I was pretty sure it would get awarded when it opened last week, just not sure what. Turns out AM/AOS... No, I don't remember how many points, I didn't even check. One more than the one I posted in the spring. This is pretty...
