    These are thrips, aren't they.

I fought thrips for a year trying different things. Most suppress only. I decided, because they move from plant to plant and thereby spread virus, to go for the big gun. St. Augustine OS has the pest/disease charts on what to use. Overture 35 WP is systemic, and is specific for thrips and...

    Cattleya trianae splash

It’s an unusually lovely splash petal, like you say, it will only get better as a seedling.

    Cattleya trianae splash

I’ve not seen your posts, but applaud David B for letting you know. I recently did the same thing and the person whose photos were being used had not given permission and appreciated it. It’s shameful how often it happens and is not the situation you describe.

    Thermostatically controlled heating mats

I also use this type, but only for the reblooming (on same stem) phals. And they are timed to turn off at night when lights go off.

    Spider mite damage??

Be sure you use something that kills, nit just suppresses thrips specifically or you will really have a problem and thrips are particularly bad because they spread virus from plant to plant.

    Spider mite damage??

Update: Please help! I'm such a klutz!!

I remember when I read your comment about not missing the ball because of a snipped curl. Very perceptive, something every woman here could relate to!!

    Spider mite damage??

Overture is the big gun for thrips. Expensive because of the size you must order. I but the bullet but got rid of them. If you are in the U.S. I can send you some. $20 plus shipping. PM me.

    Spider mite damage??

I have had thrips attack leaves and streaking damage near the spike as the leaf grew was the result.

    Blooms to brighten your day!

That's what I thought about the quadricolor. Thanks. It will come into it's own in a subsequent bloom. Re the Hilo Grand. In reality, the flower almost looks like what you describe as venosa, although not dark veins, but all the veins have color. Unfortunately it did not hold to be judged...

Cattleya trianaei 'Cashen's' FCC/AOS is blooming

Oh my, those stars would have to align magically, but I bet for you (and David B) they have!

NEslipper I sent you a Private message conversation, did you get it? It's about someone using your photograph on the internet.

    Blooms to brighten your day!

Yes, this is the meristem. I have a small division of the original that's is still establishing, but when I saw the meristem in bloom it was huge, so couldn't pass it up. Will be able to keep only one, though.

    Lc. Cynthia 'Model' AM, FCC/AOS

Amazing you are able to grow cattleyas on windowsills. Great exposure, obviously. I’m jealous. My windows are all eastern exposure. Great for phals and Paphs, but cattleyas become foliage plants if left there. I’ve really come to appreciate the historic plants. This one is gorgeous!!

Cattleya trianaei 'Cashen's' FCC/AOS is blooming

David B I think he misread Leslie’s comment. Clearly what he has is a gorgeous ‘Cashen’s’. As a division, it will definitely come into its own in time.

    Blooms to brighten your day!

Thanks. I’ve worn out the joints between my thumbs and wrists on both hands. No cartilage. Apparently pretty common in women 🤷🏼‍♂️.
